Hello, I’m Dawn
A caring osteopath and nutritional therapist
I help people with joint pain and musculoskeletal problems. My aim is to reduce your pain, lower any inflammation and promote the body’s normal healing response so that you can move more freely and painlessly again.
I know what you are feeling because I manage my own scoliosis and hip osteoarthritis and have worked my way out of sciatica and low back pain from a prolapsed disc. I am on a mission to reassure you that pain doesn’t have to last and you can overcome it and get yourself well. I am passionate in my belief that we do not have to put up with aches and pains and poor health as we get older.
My aim is to help you lower any inflammation and help you regain your strength and flexibility so that you can become pain-free or manage your pain a whole lot better.

FAQ
Can your GP refer you to an osteopath?
You do not need to be referred by your GP to see an osteopath privately.
In some areas, doctors are able to refer patients to an osteopath for treatment funded by the NHS. To find out whether osteopathic treatment is available on the NHS in your area, contact:
- your local Clinical Commissioning Group if you live in England
- your local Health Board if you live in Scotland
- your local Health Board if you live in Wales
- your local Health and Social Care Board if you live in Northern Ireland
Is an osteopath a doctor?
In the UK, osteopaths are not doctors. In the US and Canada, osteopaths are medical doctors.
What will happen during my appointment?
I will start by reviewing your medical history and asking about your current pain, how and when it started, how the pain feels. what makes it worse and better etc etc. Next I will ask you to do some movements which I will assess. Then I will explain what is likely causing your pain and whether or not exercises will be helpful for you and other options if you need more. If they are, I will demonstrate the exercises and you will then try them. You can ask as many questions as you like, as we go along. Afterwards, I will forward you a personalised exercise sheet. We can have follow up appointments to give you ongoing support and accountability.
What to wear to an osteopath appointment / Do you have to take your clothes off for an osteopath?
You will need to wear shorts & T-shirt or something similar, have a floor mat ready and set up your laptop or phone camera so I can see all of you on your mat. It would be good if you weren’t interrupted by distractions too. You do not need to take your clothes off.
Is there anything I need to do in advance of the session?
I will send you a consent form for GDPR and an email with a link to your private video call appointment (not Zoom).
What if I don't want to be "cracked"?
“Cracking” does not have to be part of your treatment, there are many effective alternatives I can use instead.
How many sessions do you think I’ll need?
You may only need one initial session and one follow up session if your problem is recent and straightforward. If you have had a problem or pain for many years, it is likely you will need 4-5 appointments, and careful monitoring to make sure my recommendations are working for you.
What if the exercises hurt?
The exercises should not cause you pain. I can grade the exercises to make them as manageable as possible, so you can start to get your joints moving.
